hi, The is no options to get the images from another sources instead of joomla directory. I\'m planning to work on that together with some popular built in sources like dropbox, facebook, flickr, picasa etc. Then I\'ll add \"custom url\" too. The problem of custom url, that you have to give \"custom thumbnail\" too, and if not, I have to pull image to joomla, and then resize it and save to cache folder. a process that will not always work, because of the pull process. That\'s why I don\'t do it meanwhile. I prefer to give some built in sources like dropbox, that will pull the image together with thumbnail.
It\'s on my update list, I\'ll work on it soon, but I can\'t tell you when it going to be ready. It\'s a heavy update, you know :(
Thats great! This would be a great upgrade, As many designers and site owners would not wish to waste hosting space and band width on media files when there are services like imgur, Amazon s3, dropbox exists.
When you upload an image to imgur it automatically generate thumbnails.
Does Unite Gallery support remote image hosts?
Can I add images from image hosts like imgur?
I would prefer that in a gallery for fast image loading.

There is actually a working workaround around it.
You can directly edit image urls in the unite gallery database tables. I use imgur to generate images and thumbnails
and insert links.
And it works..

has anyone of your team considered nano gallery (from france), all the leg work is done with fickr integration. Perhaps contact those guys
