Setup Slide Image from Image URL

I'm trying to get my slides to load more quickly by referencing images from external web-sites instead of images in my Joomla 2.5.16 media database. ...because I'm hosting from inside my Broadband router network and the upload isn't much (say about 300kbps) to write home about. Reduced images sizes as much as possible. I seem to be able to do this when adding an image into an article but really need to do something similar for a Nivo slide. I've tried to do this by adding a URL into the Slide-Image/Select/Image URL box. The updated slide saves okay but the link to the externally hosted image has my local path (localhost/joomla25/http://...) preceeding it. Tried to see where this has been defined in Joomla config or elsewhere in nivo slider modules. Possibly configured in PHP but not an expert in that area. Any help appreciated. ...and please ask for more config details if required. Using... Joomla 2.5.16, Database Version 5.6.14, PHP Version 5.5.6, Web Server Apache/2.4.7 (Win32) OpenSSL/1.0.1e PHP/5.5.6

Hi, in the nivo slider we have only option to add images only from joomla library (local joomla images folder).

In the revolution slider that we offer on our website we have option to load images from external url.

If you want, you can purchase the revolution slider.

Thanks Max. Just had a look at the intro video for the Revolution slider and it looks pretty good. will be investing in a copy in the next couple of weeks. Just have to get the basics of my site up and running first. Thanks again...

I've now purchased the Revolution Slider and converted all my Unite Nivo sliders to Revolution sliders. I've also made use of the reference to images by using URL references (to all of my images hosted on a file server hosted by BT) instead of direct links to local Joomla images folders. ...all with the intent to speed-up my customers experience of my web-site hosted on my own server.

Unfortunately, it didn't work! Quiet the opposite - it is now even slower!

My naive interpretation of how Revolution slider should/could work is that the customer would build their view of my web-site (including image sliders) by taking the structure from my own hosted Joomla server (the slow bit) and then loading the images from my BT hosted file server (the fast bit). Unfortunately, it just doesn't seem to work this way but need to investigate further to absolutely confirm this. i.e. I think my Joomloa server now has the additional overhead of downloading the images from my BT hosted file server before it builds the sliders.

Have I got this right? Is there any way around this? ...and why was Revolution recommended to me as i'd rather hoped that i'd set the context of my problem quiet clearly in my first post?

Now don't get me worong, Revolution is a very good product and think it's ptrtty well worth the money I spent on it for all it's other features, but it just doesn't (to my knowledge) fix the problem i have. ...or does it?

Any takers out there to help?
