After updating Joomla! to version 3.8.3, the site will not load images, but merely spin the wheel. Looking elsewhere in the UniteCMS portfolio, it seems like a potential JS load problem.
After upgrading Joomla, I installed AddOn-library version 1.3.44 and Unite Slider 5.08 to update the older versions, but in vain.
Any hack will be welcomed, as the customer is not pleased with the site as it is.
Jeeeeez - just saw that the URLs are all pointing to the Hertzli test & development server. So it worked, until I cleaned up the development server, deleting old stuff...
Heading into the database - those URLs must be there somewhere. BRB... :-)
The culprit was the table "__revslider_slides", holding the development URL references to the images (i.e., http://granlunden.hertzmedia.dk/whateverimage... and not http://www.botilbudgranlunden.dk/whateverimage...).
. A global change from development URL to production URL within that table did the trick, and we are now up again.
Thanks for your assistance - without you displaying the image URL below, I could have spent decades pulling out hair...
One take-away from this case could be the question: Why are the absolute links there in the first place? As I remember setting up the slides, it was pretty much point and shoot, so maybe a relative reference would be appropriate?
Also, this representation method could pose problems for those of us moving to https:// - again, if not aware of the representation (and changing it), this would break opportunity to get the much valued green lock.
this is the way the slider works internally but that is also a reason why we added a feature where you can replace image URLs from the slider configuration
Edit your slider and under the "Import / Export" section use "Replace Image Url's" to change image URLs
Sorry for late reply due to the traditional seasonal family tam-tam...
It makes good sense to have this global change feature. Not everybody would be comfortable with making global changes to the database content, deleting and reloading tables.
There could be another way to go around the problem, since sometimes it really does make sense to have global URLs: What about a checkbox marking the source either "Local" or "Remote"? If available, the site developer would immediate know the possibility, being able to take full advantage of the feature?
thank you for the suggestion but I am afraid that this feature won't be changed or updated in the way you suggested. It is working like that for a long time and since our developers are busy with our latest extension (Joomla page builder) I am afraid that you won't see new features any soon in existing extensions. Only security and bug fixes will be applied

Hi,
please check your slider because you have a missing image which slider is trying to load but fails

Hi, Igor -
Thanks for trying to help out.
When opening UniteSlider in the Joomla 3.8.3 backend, the images seems to be gone - all grayed.
However:
So, definitely, the images are there.
The site worked excellently before upgrading to Joomla 3.8.3, if that helps.
